Can Facial Aesthetics Reduce Lines and Wrinkles Permanently?

If you know anything about aesthetics, you will know that there are many different options. There are dermal fillers, cosmetic injections and laser treatments to consider. These are all non-surgical ways of reducing the number of fine lines, wrinkles and the obvious signs of ageing.

The natural ageing process is hard to avoid completely and is sped up by various external factors, such as lifestyle and sun exposure. Even if you do your best to avoid sun damage and take care of your skin from a young age, the signs of ageing will be visible to everyone eventually. Luckily, aesthetics can help to combat this. Thanks to aesthetics, the signs of ageing can be reduced in a significant way.

When it comes to reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, all aesthetic treatments work well. However, they are not permanent. Many things impact how long aesthetics last, including the specific treatment you have, the area of the face targeted and the amount of treatment given. You will likely need more than one round of treatment to keep on top of results. As aesthetics are non-surgical treatments, undergoing semi-regular treatment is simple and easy to do. At Cambridge Laser Clinic, this is something we can offer bespoke advice about during your consultation with a specialist.

Does Laser Treatment Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles Forever?

There is no way of stopping the ageing process completely, but there are ways to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles along the way. Using specialist laser treatment and unique lasers, it’s possible to reduce the signs of lines and wrinkles on the face. The most commonly targeted areas are the forehead, eyes and lips, but it’s possible to use laser treatments on any area of the face that you are unhappy with. However, despite being impressive and long-lasting, the results are not fully permanent.

Once you have had laser treatment to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, you will notice a significant change in how your skin looks. Lines and wrinkles are diminished, skin appears smoother, and your face will have a more youthful appearance. These results will last for a long time – it’s not uncommon for people to see results for between three and five years – which is why laser treatment is an aesthetic option that many people invest in. However, you will likely need more laser treatment eventually. As the ageing process continues, further laser treatment might be required to keep newly formed lines and wrinkles at bay. Compared to dermal fillers and cosmetic injections, laser treatment is the aesthetic treatment that lasts the longest.

How Long do Fillers Last?

Dermal fillers are popular, but, like a lot of aesthetic treatments, they do not reduce lines and wrinkles on a permanent basis. In general, you should expect the results of dermal fillers to last for around four to six months. This depends somewhat on the type of fillers you have, the area treated, and how long you are willing to wait between treatments. Some people are happy for their lines and wrinkles to return slightly before having more filler, which means you could get away with waiting seven or eight months before having another round of filler. If you do not want the appearance of lines and wrinkles to reappear at all between treatments, you will need filler more frequently.

The area treated with dermal fillers also impacts how long they last. Areas of the face with more movement, such as the lips and mouth, tend to need a treatment to top up sooner. This is because the constant movement of muscles helps dissolve the filler, meaning that it breaks down faster, and the results fade sooner. This is less of a problem in areas that move less, such as the forehead.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Though Botox is an effective aesthetic treatment, the results are by no means permanent. In order to keep up with the achieved result of fewer lines and wrinkles, you need to commit to having regular Botox treatment every few months. As treatment is quick and easy, this isn’t something that many people struggle with. Cosmetic injections can be applied within a matter of minutes, and results topped up.

There are a variety of factors that impact how long Botox lasts, and it’s by no means the same for everyone. On average, Botox lasts for around three to four months, but this could be longer or shorter depending on how much Botox has been used. If you have a lighter dose of Botox – which many people do, as this creates a more natural result – you could find that Botox wears off between six and eight weeks. If you opt for a heavier result – which creates a much more noticeable result – results could last for up to six months.

Once Botox starts to wear off, you will need another treatment round to ensure your desired appearance remains. If not, lines and wrinkles are likely to reappear. It’s important to find the right balance with Botox; too much and the results are likely to be more noticeable than you would like. Too little, and results will fade sooner rather than later.
